White Screen

A plain, blank white screen that fills your display. Press Full screen or click the white area. Press Esc to come back.

What a white screen is used for

White light source

At full brightness your monitor, laptop or tablet gives off an even white light. Use it to read, find something in a dark room or light a small space.

Monitor cleaning

Dust, fingerprints and streaks are easy to see on a pure white screen, so you know exactly where to wipe.

Dead pixel check

A dark dot on a full white screen usually means a dead pixel. Check the black, red, green and blue screens as well to find stuck pixels.

Tracing and drawing

Lay a tablet flat, open the white screen and place thin paper on top to trace drawings, lettering or animation frames.

Video call light

A white display in front of you brightens your face on camera. The warmth slider changes the light from cool daylight to a softer tone.

Makeup and selfie light

A bright, even white light shows natural skin tones better than most ceiling lights.

Product photos

A tablet works as a small light box or white backdrop for jewelry, coins and other small items.

Blank screen for focus

Cover a second monitor or projector with an empty white page during a talk or a break.

A plain white background

The screen has no text, logo or border. It is pure white (#FFFFFF) from edge to edge, which makes it useful as a white background for screenshots, recordings and projector tests.

Use a bright white screen for light

A white screen is the quickest light you can turn on without a lamp. Set brightness to 100% and keep warmth at zero for the strongest output. Laptops and tablets are easy to angle toward a desk, a page or your face, and a large monitor lights more of the room. For reading late at night, lower the brightness and add some warmth so the light is easier on your eyes.

Clean your monitor with a white screen

Open the white screen in full screen and look at the display from the front, then from an angle. Dust, smears and fingerprints are easy to spot on the even background. Wipe with a dry microfiber cloth, working from one side to the other, and check again. Then switch to the black screen, because some marks only show up on a dark background.

Check a new monitor for dead pixels

Run this check as soon as a new monitor, laptop or TV arrives, while you can still return it. Open the white screen in full screen, set brightness to 100% and scan the panel slowly, one section at a time. A dark or colored dot that stays in place when you move your head is a faulty pixel. Repeat on the black, red, green and blue screens, and take a photo of anything you find so you have a record for the seller.

Use a tablet or monitor as a light box

A white screen can stand in for a light box. Lay a tablet flat, turn the brightness up and place your reference image under a sheet of thin paper. The light shows through, so you can trace outlines, lettering or animation frames. Lock the screen rotation first so the page stays put, and avoid pressing hard on the glass with a pen.

A blank white screen on a TV or projector

Open the page on a computer connected to a TV or projector to get a clean, empty white image. It helps when you need to check focus, keystone, picture size or uneven brightness, or when you want a blank slide between parts of a presentation. In full screen there is no text or border, so the whole picture is one white area.

Brightness, warmth and custom colors

Brightness dims the white for use at night. Warmth adds a slight yellow tone for a softer light. You can also pick any other color with the color picker. Your choices are saved in your browser.

Keyboard shortcuts

Press F to switch full screen on or off and Esc to leave it. The mouse cursor hides after a few seconds without movement, so nothing sits on top of the white area. While full screen is active, the page asks your device to keep the display awake, in browsers that support it.

How to use it

Press Full screen, click the colored area or press F on your keyboard. Adjust the brightness slider if the screen is too bright. Press Esc, or tap Exit on a phone, to return to the page.

Frequently asked questions

Is the white screen pure white?

Yes. With brightness at 100% and warmth at zero, every pixel is #FFFFFF. The color only changes when you move the sliders.

How do I open the white screen in full screen?

Press Full screen, click the white area or press F. On iPhone, browsers cannot hide their toolbars for web pages, so the white screen fills the window instead. Press Esc or tap Exit to leave.

Can I find dead pixels with it?

Yes. Look for dark specks on the white screen, then check the black, red, green and blue screens. A pixel that shows the same color on every screen is usually stuck rather than dead.

Is a white screen a real light?

Yes. Your display emits real light, so a white screen at full brightness can light a face, a book or a small room. It is weaker than a lamp but very even.

Will a white screen damage my display?

No. Showing white is ordinary use for any screen. On OLED displays, avoid leaving any bright, unchanging image on for many hours at a time. Lower the brightness or switch to the black screen now and then.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

Yes. It works in the browser on iPhone, iPad and Android devices. For the brightest light, turn off auto-brightness and raise the brightness in your device settings.

Why does my white look slightly blue or yellow?

Every display has its own color temperature. Many laptops look slightly cool, and night modes add a yellow tint. Turn off night mode or blue light filters for a neutral white, or use the warmth slider if you prefer a softer tone.

Is it free? Do I need to install anything?

Yes, it is free. Every screen runs in your web browser on a computer, phone or tablet. There is nothing to download and no account to create.

Do you store or upload anything?

No. Your settings are saved only in your own browser so they are ready next time. We do not use cookies, and we count visits with cookieless analytics.
